The European Commission says the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation began applying across the EU on 12 August 2026. It aims to reduce waste and create more consistent rules for packaging through its life cycle. The requirements depend on the item and its role in the supply chain.

Define the use before making a claim

A durable equipment case may be sold as a product, used repeatedly as transport packaging, or placed inside other packaging. Those arrangements should not be treated as identical. For a reusable transport system, buyers need to document its intended trips, maintenance, labelling and end-of-life handling.

  • Describe the case’s role in each market and shipment.
  • Retain evidence for material and reuse statements.
  • Review the current EU guidance with a qualified compliance adviser for a specific product.
