Larger Enterprise Drone Payloads Need a Better Packing Plan

DJI’s Matrice 400 announcement lists extended endurance and multiple payload options. A transport case must be planned around the aircraft and its changing accessory set.

DJI introduced the Matrice 400 in June 2025 as an enterprise platform for inspection, mapping and emergency work. Its announcement describes multiple supported payload configurations. These are DJI product statements, not specifications for any generic drone case.

Measure the whole system

A case designed only around the folded aircraft may leave cameras, controllers, batteries and charging gear unprotected or hard to inventory. Payload options can also change over the life of a fleet. A modular insert or multiple dedicated compartments may be more practical than a single large cavity.

  • Measure every component in its transport state, including mounts and protective covers.
  • Set aside labelled positions for loose accessories and fragile sensors.
  • Recheck packed mass and handling points when the payload list changes.

No case design by itself establishes aviation or battery-shipping compliance. The cover shows a generic illustrative kit, not the Matrice 400.
